Overview
The Master in Languages, Cultures and Literary Translation provides an extensive proficiency as regards the theoretical, methodological and critical competences pertaining to two linguistic and cultural areas. The course offers a specific study of two languages and the two corresponding literatures and culture, to be chosen in these areas: Anglo-American, Chinese, French, English, German, Russian, and Spanish. The course aims at building a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the various linguistic and cultural aspects, by privileging the direct engagement with literary and cultural texts, and devoting particular attention to literary translation.
The curriculum is organized so as to give an equal consideration to literary and critical issues as well as to linguistic-semiological approaches. In order to complement the linguistic and cultural competences, also in the area of Oriental languages and cultures, the course provides other teachings (in the fields of history, geography, philosophy, the arts, and Italian literature) to satisfy the students’ different demands and interests.
Besides, the curriculum grants access to the teaching of foreign languages and of Italian to foreign students in the high-school system, provided that the graduates comply with all the other necessary requirements according to the current legislation.
